Perovskite solar cells have been remarkable efficiency improvements over the past decade, making them a leading candidate for next-generation solar cells. However, their commercialization is hindered by two main challenges: ensuring long-term device stability and developing reliable large-area module fabrication techniques. Perovskite solar cell degradation is a major issue. Our discussion will focus on understanding the fundamental causes of instability, particularly the effects of oxygen, moisture, light, and ionic migration. By analyzing these degradation pathways, we can develop targeted strategies to enhance device longevity. The talk will present our research on optimizing the processing and material design of perovskite films to create a more robust device structure. Furthermore, we will address the challenges of scaling up from small-area cells to large-area modules. We will present our analysis of laser scribing, a crucial step for patterning high-efficiency modules. Our findings show how controlling laser parameters is key to improving both module efficiency and, more importantly, long-term stability by minimizing damage. This presentation will demonstrate how a holistic approach, linking fundamental material science with advanced fabrication processes, is essential for overcoming the stability and scalability hurdles that are vital for the future of this promising technology.
