Welcome to the SKKU Advanced Institute of Nanotechnology (SAINT)

SKKU Advanced Institute of Nanotechnology 'Sungjoo Lee'

Dear Prospective Students and Researchers,
Since its founding in 2005, the SKKU Advanced Institute of Nanotechnology (SAINT) has been a cornerstone of Sungkyunkwan University’s vision to join the ranks of the world’s leading universities.

As the Fourth Industrial Revolution unfolds, nanotechnology has become a critical driver of innovation and economic growth, and SAINT is poised to play a pivotal role by advancing cutting-edge research and education.

To fulfill this mission, SAINT has built a strong foundation: state-of-the-art research facilities, world-class faculty, global collaborations, and a graduate program devoted to excellence in nanoscience and technology.

Over the years, SAINT has grown into a recognized leader in four core research areas—semiconductors, energy, bio, and quantum technology—supported by major national and international programs such as BK21 FOUR, the National Core Research Center, the Samsung SDI-SKKU Secondary Battery Center, the Quantum Information Research Support Center, and more.

We are also proud to have been guided by world-renowned honorary directors: Professor Sumio Iijima, pioneer of carbon nanotubes; Professor Michael Grätzel, inventor of dye-sensitized solar cells; and Professor Tsuneya Ando, a leading theorist in low-dimensional materials. Their wisdom and inspiration have been instrumental to SAINT’s rapid growth.

Looking forward, SAINT is committed to establishing a world-class nano-convergence R&D hub and strengthening our global open-innovation networks. With the dedication of our faculty, staff, and students, we invite you—the next generation of innovators—to join us in shaping the future through nanoscience.

Sincerely,

Director, SKKU Advanced Institute of Nanotechnology (SAINT)
