주제: Nanotechnology, a technology platform for a new paradigm

Nanotechnology has taken a position as a new emerging engine for economic growth longer than 20 years, rapidly begun to penetrate into various fields of incumbent industries, and furthermore contributed to generate new growth engines. Recently, as some global issues like climate change rise at the level of asking urgent actions, nanotechnology has been gathering more attention to give clues to resolve them.

In the present talk, I would like to put an emphasis on the importance of basic understandings underpinned in nano-related phenomena, believing to help the audience observe, analyze, and understand certain nano-objects and be able to come up with his own recipe in the future work. Thermal instability due to nanoscale capillarity is discussed in terms of microstructural change and phase transitions. And some ideas with experimental results showing how to overcome intrinsic instability during practical processes will be introduced.
