Semiconductor nanocrystals, or colloidal quantum dots (QDs), exhibit size-dependent optical properties and efficient light emission. Understanding exciton dynamics in these materials is essential for their use in photonic applications. This seminar will begin with single-exciton processes, focusing on how compositional and structural design affects their recombination. The discussion will then extend to multi-exciton dynamics that enable optical gain and lasing. Together, these studies offer practical guidelines for designing quantum dots optimized for photonic devices such as displays and lasers.
