Regarding requirement for thesis defense ( entrants from 2016)

Thesis Defense

1) Course completion requisite

❍Four or more semesters should have been registered with the credits as below.

M.S. : 24 or more, Ph.D. : 36 or more

M.S./Ph.D. : 51 or more

(Students from undergraduate school of different major should take the appointed subjects additionally.)

2) Preliminary defense of a thesis

❍Credit requisite :

M.S. : 15 or more, Ph.D. : 27 or more

M.S./Ph.D. : 39 or more

All : G.P.A. should be B or more.

❍Number of supervision of a thesis should be one or more and agreement of the

academic advisor is required (signature).

❍Submit 'Application for the preliminary defense of the thesis' to SAINT office. (Specific schedule may be variable by department and lab.)

 

3) Final defense of a thesis requisite

❍All: Credit [M.S. : 24 or more, Ph.D. : 33 or more, M.S./Ph.D. : 51 or more (including subject of pre-learning)] + G.P.A. B or more + English and comprehensive exam passed + preliminary defense passed

 

 

Qualifications for a thesis submission

M.S.

․Results that a thesis is presented or a similar or upper-leveled thesis is published in Korea scientific conference should be submitted.

(including expected publication)

․Period should be within five years from course completion.

(Or English exam should be taken again.)

Ph.D., M.S./ Ph.D.

․Results that Four or more thesis are presented in SCI or SCI expanded journals as the first author should be submitted.

(including expected publication)

.Results that three or less thesis are presented in SCI or SCI expanded journal with the total sum of Impact Factor higher than 15 as the first author should be submitted.

(including expected publication)

.Results that international patent(one registration,three apply) equal to one thesis

(Surely results One thesis, limited to the maximum journal 3)

․Period should be within seven years from course completion.

(Or English exam should be taken again.)

 

※ Thesis expounding for Ph.D.

❍Thesis should be expounded within a year from conferment of a thesis

(Contact SAINT office for more information.)

 

5) Submission of thesis for a degree

❍Number of hard copies that should be submitted : Ph.D. 3 copies, M.S. 3 copies
